A recipe for Tomato Sauce preparation:
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs fresh tomatoes, chopped (or 1 can of crushed tomatoes)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for some heat)
- Heat oil in a pan: Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic: Add chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add tomatoes: Add chopped fresh tomatoes (or canned crushed tomatoes) and stir well.
- Add herbs and spices: Add dried basil, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.
- Simmer the sauce: Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.
- Blend the sauce: Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the sauce to your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust: Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
